Organizations working at a North Darfur camp announced they will no longer be able to financially maintain the water pumps at the site. A Zamzam activist said the decision coincides with the beginning of the summer, "when displaced need water the most".
The decision enters into force next month and the displaced do not have money to keep the pumps operating after the agencies quit, the Zamzam activist told Radio Dabanga.
He also said that more than 30 water pumps at the camp are not working, but that also in this case, the displaced do not have financial means to repair them.
Some organizations and UNAMID were notified on Monday in a meeting about the situation at the camp, the activist said. He noted that issues such as lack of security and of food were also discussed with the agencies.
