  • Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI): Provided shelter and essential non-food items to 18,350 individuals, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and those affected by natural disasters.
  • Food Security and Livelihoods: Reached nearly 235,000 individuals with agricultural support, income-generating activities, and capacity-building initiatives to enhance food and nutrition security.
  • Protection: Delivered comprehensive protection services to 35,564 individuals, focusing on reducing gender-based violence and providing psychosocial support.
  • Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH): Improved access to clean water and sanitation for 30,833 people through water trucking, hygiene kit distribution, and hygiene promotion sessions.
  • Emergency Cash Provision: Distributed $232,210 in multi-purpose cash assistance to 2,750 individuals, helping them meet their immediate needs and re-establish livelihoods.

Highlights

  • Resilience Amidst Adversity: Despite significant operational hurdles, including looting and the tragic loss of staff members, UPO remained steadfast in delivering essential services. Our collaborative efforts with donors and partners enabled us to achieve over 90% of our planned response.
  • Community-Based Approach: UPO's integrated emergency response enhanced the provision of lifesaving, inclusive, and gender-sensitive services in conflict-affected areas. Community-based protection networks played a vital role in identifying and addressing protection concerns.
  • Capacity Building: Our interventions also focused on strengthening the roles and capacities of civil society organizations and community-based organizations, contributing to conflict mitigation and peacebuilding efforts.
