Highlights

  • Total number of IDPs decreased to 11.3 million with 428,000 people returning to Aj Jazirah and Khartoum. However, over 140,000 were newly displaced, mostly in North Darfur, where severe fighting continues, causing death and casualties, also amongst children.
  • In March, nearly 270,000 children under five years old were screened, with 15,839 admitted for treatment of severe acute malnutrition—bringing total treated in 2025 to 100,405; 284,419 people gained access to improved water supply; cross-border shipment of 850,000 vaccines succeeded via Chad to El Geneina to vaccinate over 150,000 children under one in Darfur.
  • Moreover, in 2025, UNICEF and partners provided 1.2 million children with education opportunities. Over 2,500 reopened schools were supported with school grants; 1.1 million received Mental Health and Psychosocial Support.
  • UNICEF Sudan faces a US$ 733 million funding gap, and humanitarian access challenges, hampering the reach of 13.6 million people, including 8.7 million children, with critical support.
