Highlights

  • The humanitarian situation in Sudan continues to worsen, with 13 million children facing acute food insecurity. Fourteen areas are on the brink of famine, and famine conditions already confirmed in Zamzam camp, North Darfur.
  • As of 31 October 2024, Sudan has reported 30,312 cholera cases and 886 deaths across 11 states. Dengue fever and malaria remain widespread.
  • UNICEF and partners reached 8.9 million people with safe drinking water, 5.1 million children with malnutrition screening (288,000 with lifesaving treatment), 1.6 million mothers and children with primary healthcare, 2.6 million children and caregivers with psychosocial counselling, learning, and protection support, and 466,227 children, mothers, and families (77,727 households) with cash assistance.
  • UNICEF Sudan’s response remains only 44 per cent funded. Urgent support is needed to sustain essential services, particularly nutrition, child protection, and healthcare. US$ 35 million is urgently required to replenish supplies to ensure distributions in the first quarter of 2025.
