Militiamen shot and killed a resident of the Sese camp for the displaced in West Darfur, on Thursday. On the same day, an army troop killed the host of a wedding party in Jebel camp, North Darfur.
“Four pro-government militiamen opened fire at a group of Sese camp residents in the area of Hajar Teiman in Kereinek locality on Thursday afternoon,” a relative of the deceased reported to Radio Dabanga.
The displaced had been hired to collect firewood by a Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) unit stationed in the area. Camp resident Ahmed Khamis Mohamed Burra (65) was killed instantly. The others remained unharmed. The militiamen had seized a rifle from a military staff member guarding the displaced. The other guards fled.
Wedding
A SAF member shot dead Ibrahim Elsir, resident of Jebel camp for the displaced in Saraf Umra locality, North Darfur on Thursday. One of the sheikhs of the camp told Radio Dabanga that the deceased hosted a wedding for his son in the afternoon.
“Just before sunset the host asked everyone to leave the party venue. However, a drunken army officer refused to move, and shot Elsir when he insisted he should leave. The father of the groom died on the spot.
