The unrelenting conflict that erupted in Sudan in April 2023 resulted in the largest displacement crisis of the year and has set of the world’s largest hunger crisis. Under the Sudan Humanitarian Aid Operation launched by Turkish Red Crescent in response to the escalating humanitarian needs in the region, a total of 2,110 tons of humanitarian relief items were dispatched from Mersin Port in 2024 via the ships SARDES and SEAHORSE. In 2025, 5,800 food parcels, 655 units of infant formula, and 1,000 blankets were locally procured and distributed to people in need. In 2026, approximately 855 tons of humanitarian aid materials were dispatched to the region on January 9 via the ship RO QUEEN.
