Sudan: World Bank releases additional US$2.2 million to southern food fund

The World Bank is releasing an additional US$ 2.2 million in the next few months to Southern Sudan Emergency Food Crisis Response basket. Speaking to Radio Miraya, Mylinda Justine, World Bank's consultant for Agriculture and Rural Development in Juba, says with the extra funding, the project, which is supposed to end this year, will be extended to 2012.

Southern Sudan Emergency Food Crisis Response was launched in 2008. Donors contributed US$ 5 million to support the project for three years.

It supports Government of Southern Sudan's Ministry of Agriculture's project for boosting food production in the region.
