BACKGROUND

Vector-borne diseases (VBDs) are a major public health problem contributing significantly to the global burden of communicable diseases in low- and middle-income countries.

Diseases caused by Aedes-borne viruses, such as dengue, yellow fever, chikungunya, and Zika, are emerging and reemerging globally.

The causes are multifactorial and include climate change effects including increasing rainfall and floods, changing temperature and humidity which favoring mosquito breeding and adaptation to different climates, global trade, international travel, urbanization, water storage practices due to inadequate or intermittent water supply, and lack of resources for interventions of which all applies to Sudan context.
