Sudan: Transitional Darfur regional authority meets

Khartoum, June 10 (SUNA) - The 5th meeting of Transitional Darfur Regional Authority (TDRA), chaired by Senior Assistant of President of the Republic and Chairman of Transitional Darfur Regional Authority, Meni Arko Menawi, Sunday discussed means of boosting security situation in Darfur as well as the priorities of the Transitional Darfur Regional Authority in the coming period. In this regard, Secretary General of the Transitional Authority, Dr. Mohammed Suleiman Adam, said in a press statement the meeting further discussed implementation of Darfur peace agreement as well as efforts to convince the movements that did not sign Abuja agreement to join the peace process. He explained that the meeting also reviewed the Authority's plan for the coming period and got informed about two reports put forward by the Commission of Lands in Darfur and the Commission for Rehabilitation and Resettlement, and its plan for repatriation of IDPs and refugees. Adam added that the meeting highlighted the role to be played by the Rehabilitation Fund of Darfur with regard to rehabilitation and building of model villages. The meeting reviewed the budgets being agreed on with the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, he said. He explained that the Transitional Darfur Regional Authority welcomed the agreement of Genaina, signed between the Government and the People's Movement for Rights and Democracy, saying that it welcomes any agreement that leads to peace and stability in Darfur. In this regard, he explained that the Wali (Governor) of West Darfur State, Abul-Gasim Imam, will present a detailed report Monday on the agreement. It is to be noted that TDRA will continue its meetings Monday. MF/BT
