Meanwhile, the United Nations and the African Union are expected to meet with the government of Sudan on the proposed hybrid operation next week in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, and will brief the UN Security Council ahead of its mission to the region.

Meanwhile, the UN Deputy Spokesperson, Marie Okabe, says that the UN Mission in Sudan reports that increased insecurity in Darfur has caused more civilians to be displaced and led to increased violence against humanitarian operations.

"The mission also notes there also continues to be a very high rate of attacks on NGO compounds and staff. It says the increasing use of physical and mental violence used during the hijackings, is of serious concern."
