Week 27 Summary Highlights
Reporting compliance: 67/96 (70%; increasing of reporting sites by 4% over the previous week). South Darfur (31/42; ↓14%), North Darfur (16/21; ↓11%) and West Darfur (20/33; ↑2%).
Population under surveillance: Decreased from 1’410,367 reported last week to 1’404,220. 71 % of total IDPs (1.96 million) or 54% of total affected population (2.62 million) are covered.
Consultations: 59,758 consultations, 35%: less than 5 years old.
Mortality and morbidity profile: ARI (16%), Clinically Diagnosed Malaria (6%) and Bloody Diarrhea (4%) are the leading causes of morbidity.
Excluding “other” category, majority of deaths were caused by SMN (10%), ARI (8%), BD and NNT (3% each). The CFR for SMN was highest (1.2%).
Mortality and morbidity profile less than 5 years old: ARI (22%), Clinically Diagnosed Malaria (5%) and Bloody Diarrhea (4%) are the leading causes of morbidity.
Deaths were caused by SMN (20%), ARI (15%) BD and NNT (5% each).
Outbreak Information
Malaria: 3,347 cases without any related death (0.17% CFR). 6% decrease comparing to the last week.
Hepatitis E: 362 new cases, Decrease in attack rate in Greater Darfur (2.6 cases/10.000 comparing to 3.2 last week), 77% (280/362) of the cases were reported form South Darfur.
Suspected meningitis: 2 cases and no death: 1 case from South Darfur and 1 case from West Darfur. Both cases were less 5 years old/ No laboratory confirmed case this week. No IDP camp crossed “ alert” or “epidemic” thresholds.
Measles: 8 new cases without any related death, 7 cases were reported from El Geneina Locality (6 from El Rayad IDP Camp) in West Darfur.
Neonatal Tetanus: 2 new cases, 1 from case from West Darfur (died) and 1 case from North Darfur.
Injuries: 1,751 new cases and no death, West Darfur reported 42% (738/1751).
No Cases for Watery Diarrhea were reported
Bloody Diarrhoea:
2,230 new cases with 1 reported death (CFR 0.12%).
44% (985/2,230) were reported from South Darfur.

- 7% and 5% form El Wahida and Ottash respectively
34% (752/2,230) from West Darfur (increased attack rate from 15.8/10,000 to 19.0/1, 000.
