Sudan in its sheer size and diversity of geography climate and peoples resembles the entire African continent. As indicated by the last population census conducted in 2008, more than 40% of Sudan population (39.2million) concentrated in large urban conglomerations and big cities.
Drought, desertification, floods and civil conflicts are the most common hazards in Sudan. Another Rare hazards but potentially posing serious risks such as earth quake, pest infestation, epidemics and land mines have had immense devastating impacts on the social structure and the economies of the country.
