OVERVIEW
The crisis in Sudan is having devastating consequences for millions of people across the country. The humanitarian needs in Sudan are at an unprecedented level, with 30.4 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. The ongoing conflict has internally displaced over 8.8 million individuals and close to 3.5 million have crossed borders into neighboring countries. Many others have been cut off from access to essential services, including education, health, nutrition, water, and sanitation. Prices of food commodities, when available, continue to soar. The protection of civilians remains a critical concern, with reports of increased sexual and gender-based violence.
In January, humanitarian organisations reached 2.9 million people with at least one form of assistance out of the 20.9 million targeted. The 2025 humanitarian response plan for Sudan is seeking US$4.2 billion in funding and as of the end of January it has been funded at 5.8 per cent.
