OVERVIEW
The crisis in Sudan is having devastating consequences for millions of people across the country. Time is running out for millions of people in Sudan who are at imminent risk of famine, displaced from their lands, living under bombardments, and cut off from humanitarian assistance. Since conflict broke out in April 2023, almost 7.1 million people have been internally displaced across the country, bringing the total number of people displaced in Sudan to almost 10 million. About 18 million people are acutely hungry and famine is quickly closing in on millions of people in Darfur, Kordofan, Aj Jazirah, and Khartoum.
Humanitarian organizations urgently need US$2.7 billion to support 14.7 million people with multi-cluster assistance and protection services, including 7.6 million people prioritized by the famine prevention plan launched in early April 2024. Despite access challenges and funding gaps, 125 humanitarian partners reached more than 5.2 million people with life-saving assistance since January 2024. The Sudan HNRP is funded at 15.7% as of 31 May
