Sudan: Government reopens Sobat River for humanitarian aid transport

State Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Abdalbagi Al Jilani , reported that the government has reopened the Sobat River route for delivering food aid as there are serious problems in the areas of Upper Nile, Warap, Bahr Al Ghazal and West Equatoria due to delay of rains and tribal conflicts in the areas of Bor and Al Nasir.

In statement to Sudan Vision, Dr. Jilani stated that the government has addressed donors for securing $44 million for relief operations in the coming three months.

He said that the UN has dismissed rumours to the effect that the World Food Programme has suspended its activities in South Sudan.
