The Sudan continues to face a severe and protracted humanitarian crisis. Food insecurity has reached unprecendented levels, driven by conflict, large-scale displacement and economic contraction. Famine conditions have been identified in parts of Darfur and Kordofan, with a continued risk of deterioration in areas affected by active conflict and access constraints. Without immediate and predictable support, seasonalopportunities will be missed, productive assets will be lost and food insecurity will further intensify. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is scaling up its response to protect livelihoods, restore food production and prevent further deterioration of food security and malnutrition. Under the 2026–2028 Emergency and Resilience Plan, FAO requires USD 230.5 million to support 12.4 million people. Of this amount, an initial USD 75 million is urgently required to deliver time‑critical, life-saving agricultural interventions to 7.5 million people.
