Sudan Council of Churches plans mediation for peace

The General Secretary of Sudan Council of Churches, Reverend Ramadan Chan Liol, has said that the Council's conference, which started on Monday in Juba, is working on a strategy to address the violence in southern Sudan, the popular consultations in Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan and the Abyei Referendum.

Speaking to Radio Miraya, Reverend Chan said that the Council is forming a delegation to meet the warring groups in southern Sudan in order to bring them to the negotiating table.

He further added that in the church, in its effort of reconciliation, has plans to engage the communities, politicians and the government in peace-building consultation in order to bring lasting peace in the region.
