Overview
Nearly two years into the conflict, Sudan faces an unprecedented humanitarian health crisis, with 30.4 million people—over half the population—requiring assistance in 2025, including 16 million children. The conflict has caused the world’s largest and fastest-growing displacement crisis, with 12.8 million forcibly displaced. Famine has been confirmed in multiple areas of North Darfur, with 17 more at risk amid worsening food insecurity. Malnutrition rates are among the highest globally, with 4.9 million children under five and pregnant women acutely malnourished. Attacks on healthcare have devastated the system, with hundreds of incidents recorded, severely limiting access to medical care. Disease outbreaks, including cholera, malaria, and measles, are spreading. WHO is supporting emergency response efforts, but insecurity, displacement, and resource shortages continue to hinder healthcare delivery across the country.
