A World Food Programme (WFP) convoy of three trucks on the way to Zalingei, Central Darfur, was looted by armed men in Hila Beitha on 30 June, taking commodities, cash, and personal items of the drivers. The trucks and drivers are now safe.
The trucks were transporting assistance to feed thousands of persons, who are suffering from unprecedented food insecurity in Sudan.
At the same time, on 30 June, the Rapid Support Forces reportedly captured a key state capital, Singa, in the country’s southeast state of Sennar. The fights have forced about 55,400 people to flee their homes, according to UN OCHA. According to news reports, the fighters have looted houses, shops in a local market and took over the city’s main hospital.
