Situation update
• The security situation in Sudan remains precarious across the country. The Kordofan corridor is experiencing particularly challenging security conditions, forcing humanitarian agencies to reduce their operational footprint due to ongoing fighting.
• Two significant inter-agency missions have been completed since the previous meeting. An interagency mission to Khartoum successfully identified three key locations for humanitarian operations: new WFP offices, IOM, and UNICEF facilities. These locations will serve as initial staging points as agencies gradually reestablish presence in Khartoum.
• Assessment missions are also planned for El-Obeid, where WFP has conducted preliminary assessments to evaluate the possibility of reopening operations in this strategic location.
• In Port Sudan, drone attacks that previously occurred frequently have decreased significantly, though the threat has not been eliminated entirely. Drone attacks continue to be reported in other locations across the country.
• Movement restrictions continue to pose significant operational challenges. Bureaucratic processes for obtaining movement clearances remain lengthy and complex, causing substantial delays for both staff and equipment movement between locations.
• A cholera outbreak has been reported in Khartoum, requiring immediate humanitarian response. ETC is coordinating with the health cluster to provide connectivity support for the outbreak response.
