Situation overview
The security situation in Sudan remains highly volatile with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) maintaining control across much of Darfur and the West of the country, and Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) maintaining control over key cities in the East. Fighting continues to intensify around El-Fasher in the West and Khartoum in the East. Violence has also escalated in Al-Gezira state, where multiple towns and villages have suffered attacks from RSF forces during November.
While fighting has intensified with the onset of the dry season, the humanitarian community has made progress with its capacity to access hard-to-reach areas. A WFP convoy of 15 trucks successfully reached Zamzam camp in Darfur through the Adre border crossing for the first time since the conflict began. In addition, the United Nations Humanitarian Air Services (UNHAS) has successfully conducted maiden flights into Dongola and Kassala airports after originally receiving clearance from the authorities in September, thereby opening more airfields for humanitarian purposes in Sudan.
