Sudan: Cattle raiders killed 17 people and stole 250 cattle this year

A member of Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly representing Twic East Constituency in Jonglei State, Deng Dau, said that at least 17 people have been killed, two children abducted and over two hundred fifty heads of cattle stolen by armed gunmen between January and June this year.

Speaking to Radio Miraya, Dau said agricultural activities, which are the basic source of livelihoods, have been greatly affected by continuous cattle raid.

He said that the local people described the raiders as armed men in military uniform but could not confirm where they come from.

Dau urged the State and Southern Sudan Government to intervene and rescue lives and properties in the area.
