The UN Special Representative in Sudan, Mr. Ashraf Qazi, and the Sudanese First Vice President, and President of the government of South Sudan, Mr. Salva Kiir Mayardit discussed on Saturday in Juba, the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, CPA. Qazi told Miraya FM after the meeting that both parties to the CPA should agree on the democratic transformation of laws, ensure that these laws are in compliance with international human rights laws.
Qazi added that; the honest full implementation of the CPA will help stability, not only in Sudan but also in the whole region. Mr. Qazi also told Miraya FM that UNMIS is coordinating with the government of South Sudan and the UN Mission in Democratic Republic of Congo (MUNOC), to provide humanitarian assistance to civilians affected by attacks of the Lord Resistance Army, LRA, in South Equatorial State and also provide protection to them.
