Sudan: Acting Governor of Northern Darfur State briefs American delegation on humanitarian and security situations

El-Fashir, Jan, 16 (SUNA)-Minister of Social Affairs, the Acting Governor of Northern Darfur State Issa Bahar Eddin has called on the international community in general and the United States of America in particular, to stand alongside Sudan for achieving peace and stability in Darfur by encouraging armed movements to join peace negotiations supervised by Qatar. The Acting Governor has received an American popular delegation from Kansas State led by reverend Lincoln Montgomery and accompanied by American economic expert of Sudanese origin Dr Mohammed Ahmed Awad Al-Geed. The delegation also included representative from the Sudanese Gusoor Charity Organization headed by Tajal Eddin Abdalla. Bahar Eddin said the situation in the State was table due to commitment of parties signatory of the Abuja agreement to the deal, urging the Americans to convoy the stability and peaceful co-existence they saw in Darfur to the American people, stressing there was no conflict between the Arab and African tribes in the region. He said that erroneous depiction in the Western Media should be corrected. Reverend Montgomery said their visit was aimed to get a first hand feeler of the situation in Darfur.
