Key Highlights

Health System Funding at a Critical Crossroads: The ongoing conflict and funding shortages, due to a U.S. executive order on January 20, 2025, have severely disrupted healthcare in Darfur, threatening the operation at least 335 health facilities across Sudan, out of which 54% are in Darfur.

Medical supplies shortage : Most health facilities in Darfur have medical supplies lasting only 1–2 months, with severe shortages in North and South Darfur.

Attacks on healthcare: In February 2025, Darfur accounted for 46% of reported attacks on healthcare in Sudan, with six verified incidents, including one in West Darfur.

Humanitarian Coordination & Localization Efforts: The Subnational Health Cluster Darfur (SNHCD) is fully operational, with strengthened coordination through a dedicated Coordinator, Co-Coordinators from INGOs and NNGOs, and an onboarded Information Management Officer.

• The expansion of the EWARS Mobile system to West, North, and South Darfur following its successful implementation in Central and East Darfur, with a focus on partner engagement, training, and improved coordination.

Technical Working Groups and Taskforces: the SNHCD is strengthening technical coordination through the activation of key working groups, including the MHPSS TWG.
