Spain pledges to continue supporting South Sudan

The Spanish Ambassador to Sudan, Ms. Maria Teresa Daurella, has said in Juba that Spain will continue to support the Government of South Sudan in the area of reconstructions.

Speaking during her first official visit to south Sudan, Ms. Daurella, told the press that the Government of Spain is also interested in supporting the peace process signed in 2005.

She further expressed concern over the effect of the global financial crisis on southern Sudan.

Spanish Ambassador said that her country will closely follow up the upcoming processes and implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement including the continuation of disarmament, elections and the referendum.

The ambassador is expected to meet President of GoSS, Salva Kiir Mayardit, and the Minister of Finance in GoSS.
