South Sudan Interior Minister calls for role for chiefs in resolving conflicts

The Minister of Internal Affairs in the Government of Southern Sudan, Gier Chuang, said the leadership at all levels should consider the role traditional leaders can play in resolving conflicts. Speaking during a chiefs conference in Juba, Chuang said it is important to have coordination between the government and the traditional leaders. Meanwhile the Chairperson of the human Rights Commission, Joy Kwaje, said that the chiefs are the first to be targeted in order to send messages of human rights to the people on ground with.

Kwaje pointed out that chiefs are in charge of justice delivery at community level.
