Salary arrears lead to closure of Central Darfur hospital

DELEIG (11 Sep.) - The hospital of Deleig, Wadi Salih locality in Central Darfur State, has closed its doors on Monday, because the hospital’s staff salaries have not been paid for six months.

“The patients were all discharged. Those in critical conditions were transferred to other hospitals in the locality,” a staff member of Deleig Hospital reported to Radio Dabanga.

“The volunteers at the hospital also stopped their work. They did not receive their incentives for the last seven months.”

He said that there are two staff members left at the reception, who refer critical cases to the hospitals of Garsila, or Zalingei, capital of the state.
