The Qatari mediation team has requested the Darfur armed movements, currently in Doha, to determine their final political stance and begin peace negotiations with the Sudanese government delegation. The movements have been in the Qatari capital since last week discussing the feasibility, with international mediators, of coming together as a collective group. The Qatari mediating team believes enough time has been allocated to this phase of negotiations and the Darfur armed movements must proceed to the second phase soon. The spokesperson of the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) - Revolutionary Force, Abdallah Mursal, told Miraya FM that the Qatari mediation is expected to issue, in the coming two days, the final outcome of negotiations so far.
Mursal further revealed that the SLM-Revolutionary Force has reached an agreement with the SPLM-Addis group regarding a number of points. He described the Addis-group as "the closest group" when negotiating for a collective stance.
