In the first three months of 2025, Insecurity Insight identified at least 521 incidents that took place at IDP/refugee camps in 13 countries and territories. 92% of these incidents continue to be reported in the occupied Palestinian territory with Israeli forces continuing to be frequently named as perpetrators in these incidents.

In April 2025, attacks on IDP and refugee camps in Sudan increased - particularly on Abu Shouk and Zamzam camps in North Darfur - two of the country’s largest. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched ground and air assaults on these camps and nearby Al Faher town, killing residents, including children, and at least 12 aid workers. Before the attack, RSF had imposed a siege on Zamzam camp, blocking humanitarian aid and worsening food insecurity and malnutrition. These camps have faced repeated attacks since fighting started between SAF and RSF two years ago, with at least 59 attacks on Abu Shouk and 21 on Zamzam, mostly by the RSF using artillery, shelling, and raids reported between April 2023 and March 2025. The SAF have also targeted the camps with airstrikes and drone-delivered explosives. During 2024, RSF besieged Zamzam camp, causing severe food insecurity, and launched a deadly attack in April 2025
