President Mubarak says Cairo and Naivasha agreements would form basis for solution of Darfur crisis
Cairo, June 18 (SUNA) - The Egyptian
President, Mohamed Husni Mubarak, said that the spirit of Cairo Agreement
between the government and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the
Naivasha peace agreement between the government and Sudan People's Liberation
Movement (SPLM) would motivate the ongoing efforts to reach a solution
of Darfur crisis. Addressing Saturday in Cairo a celebration marking the
signing of the agreement on national reconciliation and comprehensive peace
between the government and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), President
Mubarak stressed the importance of solution for Darfur crisis through an
African framework and in a manner which meets the aspiration of the Sudanese
people for stability, peace and progress. He expressed his optimism that
peace can be realized all over Sudan. President Mubarak said that the Cairo
Agreement was a culmination of candid efforts which were exerted by the
honest people of Sudan. He called on the Sudanese people to be committed
to the implementation of Naivasha and Cairo agreements and the coming agreements.
He stressed the necessity of will and political commitment among the parties
which they have signed the peace and reconciliation agreements. Meanwhile,
President Mubarak affirmed the readiness of Egypt to do its best to boost
the stability and development in Sudan. He appreciated the deeply-rooted
and historic ties between Egypt and Sudan. MO/MO
