North Darfur state announces return of 95% of displaced persons from affected localities in north Darfur

Khartoum, May 6 (SUNA) - The government of North Darfur State has announced the return of 95% of the displaced persons of localities of Kalamindo, Tewesha, Li'ait and Haskanita areas in North Darfur to their home areas, following the recent rebels attack.

The Finance Minister of North Darfur state, Dr. Abdu Dawood Suleiman, the chairman of the state's committee for the relief to the affected persons, indicated that he was assured on the humanitarian situation and voluntary repatriation of the displaced persons via the tours he made and the reports of localities commissioners, the heads of the localities' assemblies and the leaders of the native administration.

He estimated the housing gap at about 300 houses after providing accommodation services to 1200 families. He called on the commissioners and farmers unions to provide seeds and make preparations for the coming cultivation season. TA/MO
