Mass displacement from East Jabal Marra-Dobo-Alomda area 22nd March 2015

As a result of the recent intensive attacks by the Rapid Support Forces and the Janjaweed militia men on Dobo Al-Omda villages and the surrounding areas in East Jabal Marra, large numbers of citizens were displaced to Shudad IDP camp in Shangel Tobayei.

As there is no more space in the camp to accommodate these numbers of new IDPs, more than 180 families are sleeping in the open for the last twenty (20) days, and they are constantly harassed by the land owners who are asking for 500 SDG to allow them sleeping in their land, and they are also suffering from shortages of food and all basic services they need.

Nor the government neither the UN agencies visited the new arrivals or provided them with any kind of assistance, but one international NGO called DDA supported the first batch of the new arrivals.

On Sunday 22nd March around 200 people’s majority women, children and elderly arrived at Shudad IDP camp with nothing but their cloth, because they were denied taking their crops and other belongings by the authority in Dobo-Almadrassa village.

The new comers live in the open, were the main water source and the other essential service are around 3km away in Shudad IDP camp.
