Kalma ( 4 Jan .) - The suffering of the residents of Kalma internally displaced persons' camp in South Darfur is increasing due to the lack of aid being distributed by the World Food Programme (WFP).
A tribal leader at the camp said many people had taken to begging for food at Nyala market, as well as at night time markets around insecure areas of the camp.
They are facing harsh living conditions and are unable to provide for their families.
He said the WFP needs to distribute food immediately to end the crisis as the condition of people's health was now deteriorating due to a lack of food. Health services are also very limited as many humanitarian organizations were expelled last year.
The leader said people are unable to afford available medicines and are resorting to traditional medications such as herbs.
