Tokar is one of the ten localities of Red Sea state, located 178 km south east to portsudan.

Tokar locality has 91770 total population (60,000 in Tokar administrative unit while 31770 in Rural Tokar), 11, 665 Children U5 and 3671 pregnant and lactating women (PLW).

The majority of the population are farmers and herders, the locality has two rainy seasons during the year (july to September and January to February).the community of locality is highly vulnerable to flood as they are living the delta of Tokar on the pathway of Baraka valley also the weak infra structure of governmental building and households which are mainly made of mud and local wood and grass. The risk outbreaks is usually high due to poor environment and low awareness among the community
Event description
On 15th of January 2021 health officials in Tokar locality reported to SMOH surveillance unit that heavy rains continue falling on 12th, 13th and 14th of January 2021 and subsequent flooding were occurred, heavy rains have been continued for more than 6 hours. On 13th January. Resulted in multiple damages and loss of 2lives and 2 injuries due to collapse of household. In response to the report SMOH invited for task force meeting and presented the initial report received from the locality and the meeting members agreed on rapid joint assessment mission to assess the magnitude of the emergency and the urgent needs.
