Inter-Cluster Rapid Needs Assessment - IDPs from Sharg An Neel and East Aj Jazirah in Shendi Locality, 04 – 06 February 2025

Background:

On 24 October, conflict escalated across multiple locations in Aj Jazirah State as well as villages/areas in Sharg An Neel locality, Khartoum State. This was followed by alleged armed attacks on civilian settlements in different villages in Sharg An Neel locality. The reports indicated that over 28 villages have been severely impacted, with civilian deaths reported in many villages. In addition, various forms of protection violations against civilians were reported in many areas in Sharg An Neel locality, Khartoum state.
The new IDPs from Sharg An Neel arrived in Shendi in waves starting early November 2024 through January 2025 and settled across various locations in the locality, including Al Samar Al Digaisha, Sharg Al Obour, South of Al Zarrah Hospital, and El Sheikhab (El Nibirlab, Khairab, El Roboobab, Eida El Shaila, Beir Abu Domat, Yafa, Nabluse Al Magharba and El Bayada). The table below illustrates the number of IDPs from Sharg An Neel in the above locations.
