KABKABIYA (28 Mar.) - Unidentified gunmen killed a woman inside her Kabkabiya home in North Darfur on Wednesday evening and threw her body in a valley. The motive of the attack is not yet known.
Pepetrators invaded the house of Rashida Ibrahim Barsha in the Dome neighborhood and shot her dead on the spot. Witnesses told Radio Dabanga they threw her body in Wadi (Valley) Bargu, located west of Kabkabiya, and then fled.
Protesting against Barsha’s murder, crowds gathered on Thursday morning in Wadi Bargu and later in front of her house.
They demanded that security authorities and UNAMID protect civilians, arrest perpetrators and hold them accountable for their crimes.
Kabkabiya has recently witnessed several attacks on citizens. On 1 March 68 owners of commercial vehicles operating in the town protested against attacks by pro-government militias who try stealing their vehicles at gunpoint.
Days before, citizens had asked the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) to protect them against violations by militias.
