Conflict compounded by climate and economic shocks continue to negatively impact on the food security and nutrition situation in Eastern Africa. As of end of April 2025, there are an estimated 64 million food insecure people in Eastern Africa, a slight increase since January 2025 (up 4 percent).
Over 12 million children aged 6-59 months and 4 million PBWGs are estimated to be acutely malnourished across the region, with Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan and Somalia having some of the highest caseloads.
