First Vice President: Cairo Agreement affirms capability of Sudanese people to end state of war and enter the stage of accord and reconciliation
Cairo, June 18 (SUNA) - First Vice
President Ali Osman Mohamed Taha has said that Cairo Agreement between
the Government and the National Democratic Alliance affirmed the capability
of the Sudanese people to end state of war and confrontation and enter
the stage of building, accord and reconciliation. Addressing the signing
ceremony of the agreement of national reconciliation and comprehensive
peace between the government and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)
in Cairo Saturday, Taha pointed that the signing of the agreement is considered
as a new step in the march of peace and stability in Sudan, hoping that
similar steps will be made for Darfur and east Sudan. The First Vice President
congratulated the Sudanese people on the occasion. He hailed Egyptian President
Mohamed Husni Mubarak for sponsoring the talks between the government and
the NDA, pointing out that President Mubarak with his wisdom contributed
to reaching the agreement. The signing of Cairo agreement is a day for
Africa and the Arab world, Taha added The First Vice President also commended
the efforts exerted by the negotiating delegations and the Sudan People's
