Between November 2024 and June 2025, DTM field teams recorded approximately 1,337,117 returnees across 1,140 locations in Aj Jazirah (71%), Sennar (13%), Khartoum (8%), White Nile (5%), River Nile (2%), and West Darfur (<1%). This represents an 12 per cent increase in returns compared to Return Monitoring Snapshot (4).
- Within Aj Jazirah, an estimated 952,275 individuals returned to 529 locations, in 6 localities: Sharg Al Jazirah (41%), Um Algura (33%), Janub Al Jazirah (12%), Al Hasahisa (7%), Medani Al Kubra (6%), and Al Manaqil (1%).
- Within Sennar, an estimated 178,107 individuals returned to 287 locations in 7 localities: As Suki (38%), Sinja (19%), Ad Dinder (15%), Sennar (10%), Ad Dali (8%), Abu Hujar (7%), and Sharg Sennar (3%).
- Within Khartoum, an estimated 105,723 individuals returned to 161 locations in 7 localities: Bahri (36%), Um Durman (20%), Sharg An Neel (15%), Khartoum (9%), Karrari (8%), Jebel Awlia (8%), and Um Bada (4%).
- Within White Nile, an estimated 70,352 individuals returned to 95 locations in 9 localities. The majority (58%) were recorded in Aj Jabalain, while others reportedly returned to Um Rimta (20%), Al Gitaina (19%), Rabak (2%), Kosti (<1%), As Salam/ Ar Rawat (<1%), Tendalti (<1%), Guli (<1%), and Ad Diwaim (<1%).
- Within River Nile, an estimated 28,655 individuals returned to 44 locations across Shendi locality.
- Within West Darfur, an estimated 2,005 individuals returned to 95 locations in four localities: Ag Geneina (38%), Kulbus (29%), Habila (25%), and Sirba (8%).
Note:
DTM Sudan defines a returnee as someone who was previously displaced from their habitual residence in Sudan due to an event dating from 2003 onwards, who has now voluntarily returned to their location of habitual residence, irrespective of whether they have returned to their formal residence or to another shelter type. Some IDPs who returned from locations of displacement may not have returned to their specific locations of origin and may remain displaced within their locality or state of origin.
