Overview
As of 21 May 2025, DTM field teams estimated that 46,840 individuals (9,367 households) were displaced from Al Khiwai and An Nuhud localities, West Kordofan due to heightened insecurity. Many of those displaced were already IDPs and experienced secondary displacement.
On 1 May 2025, clashes between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in An Nuhud town, An Nuhud locality in West Kordofan displaced an estimated total of 35,000 individuals (6,999 households). The majoirty (66%) of individuals reportedly remained within An Nuhud locality (23,105 individuals). Other displaced individuals moved to neighbouring localities, including Ghubaish (16%), Al Idai (6%), and Wad Bandah (6%), among others.
On 2 May 2025, clashes in Al Khiwai town, Al Khiwai locality in West Kordofan displaced an estimated 11,840 individuals (2,368 households). The majority (93%) of individuals were displaced within Al Khiwai locality (10,910 individuals), while others were reportedly displaced to Gharb Bara and Sheikan localities in North Kordofan.
