DTM Sudan Flash Alert: Conflict in Nyala Janoub (Nyala Town), South Darfur (Update 023), 06 February 2025

DTM Sudan's Early Warning Flash Alerts provide immediate updates on incidents and sudden displacement in Sudan.

An estimated 275 households were displaced from Nyala town in Nyala Janoub locality, South Darfur between 2 and 4 February 2025. The displacement reportedly occurred due to airstrikes across Nyala town, which affected multiple neighbourhoods, including El-Jamhourya, El-Wadi, El-Matar, Sika Hadid, Majouk, and Musai, in addition to Otash and Dereige IDP camps and Majouk gathering site in Nyala Janoub and Nyala Shimal localities.

Households were displaced to other localities within South Darfur. Additionally, an unconfirmed number of households were displaced across borders into neighbouring countries. The situation remains tense and unpredictable. DTM will continue to monitor the developments closely and will provide regular updates on displacement and population mobility across Sudan.
