DTM Sudan Flash Alert: Conflict in Al Malha (Deraishga Village), North Darfur (Update 01): 12 January 2025

On 3 and 4 January 2025, an estimated 750 households were displaced from various villages in Al Malha locality, North Darfur. Displacement reportedly occurred due to increased security concerns following clashes between the Juba Peace Agreement Joint Forces (JPA Forces) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on 31 December 2024 and 1 January 2025. Clashes reportedly occurred in Deraishga village of Al Malha locality. Households were displaced from the villages of Deraishga, Alhelf, Marwndi, and Salangi in Al Malha locality. Field teams reported that affected households were primarily displaced to locations within Al Malha locality. There were also reports of looting of livestock. Widespread telecommunication outages across the locality hindered the ability of DTM field teams to provide continuous updates. The situation remains tense and unpredictable.
