Distribution of Emergency Seeds and Tools and Livelihood Assets Aweil West, Yirol

The ability of many Sudanese to sustain their livelihoods have been eroded and the impact of the crisis in 1998 will take time to recover from. In the meantime, communities continue to be very vulnerable. For this reason, an emergency response is needed to deal with the expected food shortages in 1999. Concern will work with up to 100,000 people to reduce their vulnerablility through the distribution of vegetable, maize and sorghum seeds and the provision of basic fishing equipment.
Concern has already distributed seed (sorghum and groundnuts), mosquito nets, blankets, emergency shelter material, fishing twine and fishing hooks to almost 20,000 families in the programme areas.
