A massive fire broke out on Thursday afternoon at a South Darfur camp and its residents are accusing “unidentified groups” of starting it, calling it a “method to dismantle the camp”.

Fifty houses at the Donkey Abiyad camp were “completely destroyed” and a displaced was “critically injured”. Sadia Adam was admitted at a hospital in Girayda to treat her wounds.

The camp’s sheikh told Radio Dabanga that families whose houses were burned down are in need of shelter, cover and food.

Donkey Abiyad's displaced are urging humanitarian organizations to provide assistance to those affected by the flames.
