Attachments

On the 3rd of May, it has been ten years since the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2286 on protecting health care in conflict. To mark this milestone, Insecurity Insight launches an interactive global platform documenting attacks on health care.

Data from Insecurity Insight shows that since fighting started between the SAF and RSF in April 2023 and 14 April 2026:

  • Over 740 attacks on health care recorded
  • 206 health workers killed, 15 kidnapped and 126 arrested
  • Health facilities damaged over 200 times
  • 51 attacks on maternal health care services
  • 55 attacks where armed drones affected health care

The data collected by Insecurity Insight highlights how violence against health care is becoming normalised, with serious consequences for civilians, disease response and health systems.

We highlight the use of this platform for:

  • Real-time data available for briefings, reports and other documents
  • Country-specific insights and tailored data selections: explore the filters on information by different contexts, impact or for specific countries
  • Click on the yellow dots of individual incidents to find out more
  • Explore any thematic areas (shown on the left) either globally or for a specific country by clicking on the country.
