Attacks on Health Care in Sudan, 05-18 February 2025

Insecurity Insight identified 542 attacks on Sudan's health care system since fighting started between Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in April 2023 and 18 December 2024.
In these incidents, 122 health workers were killed and 90 arrested. Clinics, hospitals and medical warehouses were damaged 136 times and taken over for non-medical purposes on 51 occasions. Almost two-thirds of incidents were attributed to the RSF.

As reported on 06 February 2025: In Al-Qatana city, White Nile state, Al-Qatana Teaching Hospital and pharmacy were looted and medical equipment destroyed putting them out of service. Source: Sudan Doctors Network

07 February 2025: In Khartoum city and state, the administrative director of Bashair Teaching Hospital, who was also a member of South Khartoum Emergency Room, was detained by the RSF and taken to an unknown location. Sources: Sudan Tribune and Sudanese Alliance for Rights

08 February 2025: In Khartoum city and state, the South Belt Emergency Room at Bashair hospital was raided by armed RSF members who detained two volunteers under threat of weapons. Source: Sudan Tribune

08 February 2025: In Khartoum city and state, a radiologist was killed while working at Khartoum Teaching Hospital by the RSF. He had been previously been arrested and released more than once by the RSF.Source: Sudan Doctors Network
