Sri Lanka: UN Panel Report fundamentally flawed and Patently biased

Sri Lanka says that the UN panel of Expert report on Sri Lanka is fundamentally flawed and patently biased presented without any verification. Sri Lanka External Affairs Ministry said that the Government of Sri Lanka has received a copy of the report of the Secretary General’s Panel of Experts on accountability in Sri Lanka and it would reply in detail shortly.

"The Government finds this report fundamentally flawed in many respects." Said the statement issued by the External affairs ministry Wednesday evening. "Among other deficiencies, the report is based on patently biased material which is presented without any verification." It added.

Sri Lankan Government at the outset had rejected the appointment of a UN Panel of Expert to advise the UNSG on Sri Lankan accountability issue. Sri Lanka described the panel as unwarranted and uncalled for

The Government said it would comment on the contents of the report in detail in due course
