Sri Lanka: Steady flow of essential items to the North

66 lorry loads leave Omanthai Check Point

The Government pledges to continue the supply of essential food items without any shortage to civilians living in liberated areas in the North, as 66 lorries carrying large stocks of essential commodities took off to war torn areas today (24).

These lorries carrying food items for people in Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi and other parts of the Wanni left via the Omanthai security post this afternoon. They were earlier stationed in Vavuniya due to the threat posed by the LTTE.

It is reported that 300 lorries carrying essential food items have already been sent to liberated areas in the North during the past three months.
