Sri Lanka: Sharja charity permanent houses for tsunami victims

Social Service Department of Sri Lanka Jama'ath e Islami handed over ten permanent housing units, as part of the proposed 100-unit settlement project, to tsunami victims in Kinniya, sponsored by the Sharja Charity International, a UAE based charity organization
The Handing over Ceremony was held on Friday, 21st October. Ash Sheikh Jamal from the Embassy of the UAE graced the ocassion as Chief Guest.

Mr. Alawathugoda, District Engineer, Tsunami Housing Reconstruction Unit of the Urban Development Authority of the Government of Sri Lanka in his address, said that Sri Lanka Jama'ath e Islami deserves congratulations from all quarters for its role as the first organization to hand over permanent houses to beneficiaries, in the entire Trincomalee district.

Meanwhile, the Jamaath is also constructing 15 more permanent housing units in the Kuchcheveli area of the Trincomalee district, sponsored by The Association of Sri Lankan Muslims in North America(TASMiNA). The Project is expected to be completed shortly.

Social Service Department of Sri Lanka Jama'ath e Islami also handed over 15 permanent houses, sponsored by Zakat House, Kuwait, to tsunami victims in Kalmunai August this year.
